Introduction
Born and raised in Harlem, New York in 1963, JonOne is an American graffiti artist who is currently active in Paris. Influenced by the early New York street art scene represented by Jean-Michel Basquiat and others, he worked as a graffiti writer while doing tag activities. JonOne's dynamic and outspoken brush touches and drips, and the pattern painted New York's urban landscape, including subways and walls, in his own signature style, a colorful abstract style.
After moving to France in 1987, Johnwon created his own art world among artists in Paris with graffiti works moved to canvas and became a world-class graffiti artist. Recognized as a world-class artist beyond the graffiti scene, Johnwon was awarded the "Legion d'Honneur" Order of Culture and Arts, France's most prestigious honor, in 2015. His work activities, such as collaborating with global brands as well as artworks, have a great influence on our society as a whole, beyond just the art world.
